Good morning, Tumblr.

Earl Sweatshirt’s “Chum” - probably the song I’ve been listening to more than any other over the winter break. Released a month ago, this unembellished and stunning confessional is from the Odd Future rapper’s very long-awaited and highly anticipated second album Doris, due out at some point this year.

Good morning, Tumblr.

Here’s Villagers’ “Nothing Arrived” from their long-awaited (definitely by me) new album {Awayland}.

Overplayed, at least by me. This is the song of the past year and a half of my life.

Beach House - “Zebra”

NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert with Yann Tiersen, creator of the gorgeous Amelie soundtrack.

Confession: I honestly grew up thinking that the song “Mustang Sally” (“All you want to do is ride around, Sally. Ride, Sally, ride.”) was a pun on the astronaut’s name.

Discovering that the song was first recorded when the first American woman and probably first LGBT person in space was only 14 did not diminish her coolness for me in any way.

I can’t stop listening to this lately, and it’s now my default wake up song. Available as a free download from Chris Rubeo’s Bandcamp profile.

Ten years after The Mountain Goat’s “Tallahassee,” Zach Baron returned to Florida with singer-songwriter John Darnielle to search for remnants of the album’s mythic inspiration. What he found is a lesson on people who make things, people who enjoy them, and the space between the two.

Breaking: John Darnielle—who moonlights as a reproductive rights activist—is still awesome.

Very lucky to have just had William & Mary host John Darnielle and The Walkmen this past weekend as part of WCWM Fest. “Still awesome” is right.
