[Image: Reuters] Free, online, and high-quality university courses are easily the most exciting innovation in higher education for me, not only because of their benefits in an academic atmosphere of skyrocketing tuition costs, financial strain on colleges forcing them to shed faculty and less lucrative, more obscure fields of study, and the widespread accessibility of these online programs, but also because the prospect of free, user-friendly, university professor-designed life-long learning in even my most dilettantish interests thrills me to no end.
